The #1 Way To Maximize Your Eye Health And Vision

Visit your Doctor of Optometry for routine annual comprehensive eye exams. During your visit your doctor will check several things, including the health of your eye, determining your best corrected vision and ruling out ocular diseases that are blinding (glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy). Additionally, your doctor will evaluate how well your eyes work binocularly (as a team), focusing ability at distance (driving), near (reading) and computer (intermediate). Your optometrist can also detect signs of elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, side effects of common medications and skin disorders including cancer. A routine exam evaluates your color vision and depth perception and checks for gradual changes that may suggest other concerns. Most importantly, your doctor will advise if you need prescription eyeglasses, prescription contact lenses, eye exercises or eye drops to keep your vision sharp, your eyes working well together or if you need dry eye relief. An annual eye exam is one of the best and quickest ways to get a checkup of your general health. Your optometrist will use an ophthalmoscope to evaluate the ocular blood vessels and retinal tissue to see if there are any underlying health concerns you may have never noticed. Eye exams can detect if your change of vision is related to normal aging or if it is related to undiagnosed medical conditions. The #1 way to maximize your eye health and vision is to schedule an annual comprehensive eye exam with your local Doctor of Optometry (OD).
